I can't...

Voor het moment interesseert me niet veel meer, zelfs bloggen of borduren niet. Op 12 december besloot m'n vriend om een einde te zetten aan onze relatie van 5 jaar. Ik zag het niet aankomen, maar ben er kapot van. Dus eventjes sorry, maar ik heb er echt geen zin in om te borduren of wat dan ook. Meestal zit ik gewoon maar te wenen, eten lukt ook amper en sta eigenlijk alleen nog op om te gaan werken.

At this moment nothing really interests me, not even blogging or stitching. On December the 12 my boyfriend decided to stop our relationship after 5 years. I didn't saw it coming, but I'm really broken by it. So sorry for a bit, but I don't feel like stitching or whatever. Most of the times I'm just crying, I'm hardly eating and I'm just getting up to go to work.

Nog steeds ziekjes, maar het moet wel lukken om morgen weer aan het werk te gaan, denk ik. Nu de Earth Goddess klaar is wil ik terug wat verder doen aan m'n Haed, want deze heeft wat te lang in de kast gelegen. Ik heb het advies dat ik aan anderen geef zelf eens opgevolgd en ben vakjes gaan maken op m'n stof. Veel werk, maar het werkt wel een stukje makkelijker.

Een heel stukje glitterdraad ingewerkt, zelfs met Thread Heaven is het nog moeilijk om zo'n heel stuk in te werken, maar we komen er wel hoor.

Still a bit ill, but I guess I'm able to go back to work tomorrow, I think. After the Earth Goddess it's time to move back to my Haed, this one has been in my cabinet for way too long. I used the advise I give to others for once myself and started to grid my fabric. Quite some work, but it's a bit easier to stitch on.

I even did a piece of Kreinik glittery thread, which is hard, even with Thread Heaven as an aid, but we will get through it.

Eerst en vooral sorry dat ik de winnaar gisteren niet getrokken heb, maar ik heb griep en kan moeilijk m'n bed uit. De ene moment ijskoud, de andere moment lig ik te zweten dat m'n bed op een paar minuten kletsnat is. Hopelijk ben ik vrijdag genezen want moet zaterdag zeker weer aan het werk kunnen, genezen of niet. Het is ook moeilijk om de hele tijd te blijven liggen, want hoe ik ook zit of draai of keer, overal doet het pijn. Behalve wat dafalgan heb ik niks anders gekregen :(.

One moment I'm freezing, the other moment I'm sweating and my bed is wet in a few moments. I hope I'm healthy again by Friday, cause I need to go back to work at Saturday, healed or not healed. It's hard to stay in bed either, cause every side I'm on, it hurts everywhere. And except some paracetamol, I received nothing else from the doctor :(.

(Re)decorating...

Er was nog wat verf over toen we de woonkamer schilderden, en hiermee heb ik nu het kleinste kamertje geschilderd. Samen met wat Ikea spulletjes ingericht en tada...

We still had some paint when we painted the living room, and with this I painted the smallest room in the house. Together with some Ikea spulletjes it makes a cosy room...

Je ziet het niet verkeerd, de plaats waar ik meestal tijd heb om te lezen of borduurpatronen uit te kiezen is daar of in bad, hihi. De blauwe kommetjes zijn eigenlijk gewoon mooie soepkommetjes, speciaal uitgekozen om bij het bruin te passen. Nu enkel nog wat aankleden met kleine borduurwerkjes, als die ooit eens af raken.

You don't see it wrong, the place where I have the most time to read or to choose stitching patterns is there, hihi. The blue scales are cups for soup, especially chosen to go with the chocolatebrown. Now I need to decorate it with little stitchworks, but I need to get them finished first.

Ik vind decoreren en zo heel erg fijn, maar jammer genoeg kan je in een klein huurappartement niet zo veel doen. Bijna alle ruimte hier heeft een nut, en zodoende is er niet zo veel plaats hier. Ik droom echt van een eigen huis, om te kunnen verbouwen, decoreren en zo. Ik denk dat de keuken waarschijnlijk het duurste en het grootste in het hele huis zal worden.

I love to decorate, but unfortenatly you can't do a lot in a very small rental appartment. Almost every space has it use here, and there for there isn't a lot of place left to make it cosy. I really dream of a house of my own, I would love to renovate and decorate. And I think the kitchen would be very expensive and big, lol.

Zalm uit de oven met sinaasappel

Salmon out of the oven with oranges

2 sinaasappelen (zeste van 1 sinaasappel en het vruchtvlees van 1 en het sap van de andere) - 2 oranges (the zest of one, fruit of one and the juice of the second one)

2 teentjes look - 2 garlictoes

een dikke ui in ringen (gewone mag, rode zijn zoeter) - a large onion in rings (ordinary are ok, but red are sweeter)

2 moten zalm - 2 pieces of salmon

Peper, zout - pepper, salt

dille - dill

olijfolie - oliveoil

kleine aardappelen - little potatoes

geitenkaas - goats cheese

Was de aardappelen, je hoeft ze niet te schillen. Kook de aardappelen lichtjes voor, ze mogen nog niet volledig gaar zijn. Leg ze in een ovenschotel en doe er de in ringen gesneden uien over, samen met de look. Besprenkel met wat olijfolie, doe er de peper en het zout over en zet gedurende kwartiertje in een oven. (180°C, voorverwarmd) Rasp wat van de schil van 1 sinaasappel, snij de partjes uit en pers het sap uit de andere sinaasappel.

Leg de zalm op de aardappelen, overgiet met sinaasappelsap, leg de partjes er bij, strooi de zeste en dille er overheen. Snij de geitenkaas en plakjes en schik er in. Zet nog even in de oven tot de zalm gaar is (hangt van de dikte en grootte af van je zalm), wel niet te gaar laten worden.

Wash the potatoes, you don't need to peel them. Cook them, but not ready to eat yet, they still need to be a bit raw inside. Put them in scale for the oven and put the onion slices over it, together with the garlic. Sprinkle some oliveoil over it, pepper and salt and put in the oven for 15 minutes. (180°C preheated) Rasp the zest of one orange, cut the parts out and squeeze the juice out of the other one.

Place the salmon on the potatoes, pour the juice over it, place the parts of the orange in it, sprinkle the zest and the dill over it. Cut the goatcheese in slices and place them in aswell. Put a bit in the oven till the salmon is ready (depends on the size and tickness of the salmon), don't overcook it, it's not that tasty with dry fish.

Zo makkelijk, en zo lekker.

So easy, and so tasty.

A yummie present...

Een verjaardagscadeautje met 2000 recepten... nee, ik ben geen vegetarier, maar ik word soms gek van wat ik nu weer ga maken. Ik eet graag pompoenen, knolselder, pastinaak en alle andere soorten groenten, er zijn heel weinig groenten die niet lust of niet graag eet (rooie kool, bah), maar soms steekt het echt wel eens tegen dat het weeral pompoensoep, erwten met wortelen of gewoon knolselderpuree is. En groenten op zich zijn natuurlijk heel lekker. En ik vind dat vegetariers veel creatiever omspringen met groenten dan vleeseters. En vanaf nu komt er elke week iets vegetarisch op tafel. Ik was al enkele maanden aan het zeuren voor dit boek en nu heb ik het eindelijk. Net op tijd, want morgen word ik er 25...

A birthday present with 2000 recipes... no, I'm not a vegetarian, but cooking drives me crazy these days. I love to eat a lot of vegetables, like pumpkin, celery,... there aren't many vegetables I don't like (bah red cabbage), but sometimes it's annoying that you only cook pumpkinsoup, mashed celery potatoes or just carrots and peas. Vegetables are very good on their own, but vegetarians are more creative with them then I am. And from today, every week I will make something vegetarian. I was asking for this book since a while and now I finally have it. Just in time, cause tomorrow I'll be 25...

Yummie... Fennel...

Wat doe je als je nog een hoop in de koelkast zitten hebt, maar van niks eigenlijk genoeg of geen zin hebt in gewone bouillon of zo? Dan begin je maar te mixen, in de hoop dat het goed smaakt, hihi. Ik had dus nog een halve venkel in de koelkast liggen, den overschot van het slaatje dat ik naar haar wijze gemaakt heb. Niet zo moeilijk hoor, en ja hoor, toch lekker. Maar na twee dagen venkel/appel slaatjes wilt ge toch iets anders. En een paar paprika's die niet zo goed meer waren om rauw op te eten... maar wel nog goed voor de soep. Dus werd het paprika-venkel soep.

Men neme een dikke ajuin, 2 paprika's, nen halve venkel (ja die blaadjes mogen daar ook bij), wa bouillonblokjes (kip of groenten naar u goesting) en een klein pepertje als je van pittig houdt, kookt dat met wa water, mixer der in en kruiden naar smaak. Ik had niet eens de tijd voor een foto te nemen, zo snel was ze op.

What do you do if you still have a lot of leftovers in the fridge, but not enough of everything for a full meal or don't feel like something "normal". Then you start making weird mixes, hoping it will taste well, lol. I still had half of a fennel left in the fridge, the left over from a salad I made from this lady (Dutch blog). It wasn't so hard, but so tasty. But after two days of fennel/apple salads you really want something else. I also had a few bell peppers that didn't looked so crispy anymore, but still good for soup. So I made bell pepper/fennel soup.

So you take a big onion, 2 bell peppers, half the fennel (yes, you can add the little leaves), some stock or little blocks with the tast of chicken or vegetables, a little pepper if you like it a bit hot and cook that with some water offcourse. Mix it, and spice it as you like. I didn't even had the time to take a picture, it tasted that good.

Making depth...

Eerst en vooral, dankjewel voor de reacties over de veranderingen op m'n blog. Ik blijf natuurlijk nog steeds babbelen over borduren en zo, maar ook over andere dingen. Zoals er iemand zei, een groot deel van ons leven is borduren, maar het is niet alles in ons leven. Toch bij mij niet, al zou ik graag wel wat meer tijd voor te borduren hebben. Ik blijf natuurlijk ook in het Nederlands/Engels posten, dat verandert ook niet.

First of all, thank you for the comments on the changes on my blog. I won't stop chattering about stitching and so, but I will also talk about other things. Like someone said, stitching is a huge part of our lives, but it's not everything. Well, it isn't here, but I would love to have some more time for stitching. Offcourse I keep posting in both Dutch and English, I won't change that.

En over het borduren, de laatste kruissteken aan de Earth Goddess zijn gezet, nu is het de beurt aan de stiksteken...

And about the stitching, the final cross stitches have been stitched on the Earth Goddess, now it's time for the backstitches...

En iets niet over borduren, maar wel te maken met decoratie, op de blog van m'n moeder kan je nu een uil zien die gemaakt is met pompoenen. Hij is wel mooier met een kaarsje er in, maar het was nog niet donker genoeg toen hij gisteren af is, maar ze heeft beloofd om ook een foto te posten met een kaarsje er in.

He is a lot prettier with a candle in it, but it wasn't dark yet when he was finished yesterday, but she promised to post a picture off it with a candle in it aswell.

A change... help needed

Stilletjesaan word ik ouder, krijg ik ook meer en andere interesses en ik denk dat deze mijn blog een beetje gaan beinvloeden. Ik begin meer en meer te houden van lekkere dingen en zo te koken, maar zou er graag over willen bloggen. We zouden graag een eigen huisje hebben en ook verbouwen of bouwen, en ook hier zou ik graag over bloggen. En misschien later ook kinderen... Maar zou je m'n blog dan nog wel graag hebben? Ik heb het niet echt zo voor 5 verschillende blogs, maar ik wil ook niet dat mensen weglopen omdat het niet alleen meer over borduren gaat. Ik ben helemaal niet van plan om niet meer te bloggen over borduren, maar ik wil een blog met meer dan alleen borduren...

Day by day I get a bit older, I get different intrests and I think these will change my blog a bit too. More and more I'm starting to love about good foods and cooking, but I would like to blog about it. We would love to go for a house of our own and blog about the building or renovating, or simply getting it. And maybe about children later... But would you still like my blog? I don't really like have 5 different blogs, but I don't want people to run away either because my blog has other things then stitching aswell. I'm not planning on taking the stitching away, but I want a blog with more then just stitching...

Dus nu is m'n vraag, zou je m'n blog nog lezen als er ook andere dingen op zouden komen, als hij een stuk persoonlijker zou worden?

Mushrooms...

Nog maar eens een update van de Earth Goddess. Ik ben nog steeds bezig met de kruissteekjes, maar de paddestoelen aan de linkerkant staan er al, nu nog die aan de rechterkant. En over paddestoelen gesproken, daarnet heerlijke champignonsoep gemaakt...

Another update off the Earth Goddess. I'm still on the cross stitches, but the mushrooms on the left side are allready there, now the ones on the right side. And talking about mushrooms, I just made some nice fresh mushroom soup...

The next two...

Ook de 2 volgende steken zijn klaar. Deze waren toch een tikkeltje erger dan de eerste. De Feather stitch ging nog redelijk, maar de Basque stitch die was heel wat minder. Ze zijn toch gelukt, nu op naar de volgende die vrijdag uitkomt.

The next 2 stitches are finished aswell. These ones were a little harder then the first one. The Feather stitch, was still quite fine, but the Basque stitch was a lot less. Anyway, they are finished, up to the next one, which is due to arrive on Friday when the next part gets out.

Net terug van de supermarkt en ik heb weer lekker leesvoer mee. En echt wel lekker hoor, om je vingers bij af te likken. Sinds een maand of 3 (ik vind het heel erg jammer dat ik de vorige niet heb, maar ik ga ze ooit ergens proberen te pakken krijgen) koop ik het kookmagazine Delicious, wel de NL versie, want de Engelse versie die vind ik hier niet. Maar de recepten zullen in beide wel even lekker zijn hoor.

Ik probeer tegenwoordig goedkoper en gevarieerder te koken en ook minder weg te gaan gooien van voedsel. Heb je er al eens bij stilgestaan hoeveel voedsel een mens weggooit? Wat brood dat "droog" is, een paprika die een plek heeft (perfect goed voor soep hoor, of voor een gegrilde paprika) of een restje vlees dat overgebleven is. Deze maand staan er ook no waste recepten in het magazine en ik ben van plan om er eens een paar uit te proberen. Trouwens, vorige week ben ik bij de boer om aardappelen geweest, er lagen wortelen en heb er gretig een aantal gekocht. Hij had 2 soorten, de ene bijna 2 euro duurder dan de andere, maar hij kreeg de goedkope amper verkocht omdat ze er niet mooi recht uit zagen. Maakt mij niet uit, ze zullen ook wel goed smaken...

I just got back from the store and I brought some yummie reading stuff with me. Really really yummy stuff, to lick your fingers from. A month or 3 ago I started buying Delicious (I regret not having bought it earlier, but I hope to get the others somewhere aswell), the Dutch version, cause we can't find the English version here. But I guess the recipes will be as good in both versions.

I'm trying to cook cheaper, more variated and also to throw away less food. Have you ever tought of how many food we throw away each day? Bread from yesterday, cause we want fresh bread, a bell pepper with a spot on (which is perfectly fine for soup or grilled pepper), or a little part of meat that was left over. This month Delicious has no waste recipes and I'm going to try them out soon. Btw, last week I went to the farmer and wanted to buy some potatoes, he also had carrots, two kinds, one almost 2€ cheaper then other ones, but he couldn't get them sold. Why not? Because they weren't straight, they were curved and different sizes. He said people don't want carrots that aren't perfect. I didn't matter and bought the cheaper ones anyway, and I think they will taste great.

Vorige week zag ik op Carins blog haar start van de nieuwe SAL van Abi Gurden, The Great Escape en ik vond het wel een mooi design. Ik wou mee doen en heb me dan ook ingeschreven. Het patroon bestaat uit allemaal speciale steken en op de eerste heb ik ook al zitten zweten. De eerste, de Montenegrin stitch, lijkt op een kruissteek als hij afgewerkt is, van ver dan toch, maar is helemaal anders. Hier zie je m'n eerste stukje. Ik heb gekozen om zoveel mogelijk met Nina's overloopgaren te werken, de kleur die je hier ziet is Asbury.

On Carins blog I saw the start of a new SAL by Abi Gurden, called The Great Escape and I found it a very nice design. I wanted to join so I decided to sign up. The pattern contains all kinds of specialty stitches and it has cost a lot of blood, sweat and tears allready for the first stitch. The first one, the Montenegrin stitch, looks like a cross stitch when it's finished, seen from far that is, but is totally different. Here you can see my first piece. I've chosen to stitch as much as possible with Nina's handdyed threads, the color you see here is called Asbury.

Leaves, grass and flowers...

Het gaat goed, het gras aan de linkerkant is geborduurd, er staan schattige witte bloemetjes in, zelfs al een klein schattig bugje. En die verdomde blaadjes zijn er ook al gezet. En nu nog even wat aan de paddestoelen borduren voor we morgen een weekendje weg zijn naar de Ardennen... en wat dacht je, natuurlijk gaat m'n borduurwerk mee ;-)

It goes well, the grass at the leftside is stitched, the cute little white flowers are added aswell, and look, even a small little bug is to be found. And those damned multicoloured leaves are stitched aswell. And now I'm going to stitch a bit more on the mushrooms before we are leaving for a weekend in the Ardens... and what did you think, offcourse my stitching will join me ;-)

Ik heb weer eens wat garen en stof bij Nina besteld en die zijn vandaag aangekomen. Joepie!!! Ze maakt er echt iets leuks van, zodat het lijkt alsof je (zelfs al heb je het zelf besteld) een geschenkje krijgt.Ik vind het zo leuk :-). Weer een aantal prachtige garens erbij en zo, ik begin het moeilijker en moeilijker te krijgen om te kiezen. En ik moet er dringend nog eens wat mee borduren. Dankjewel Nina.

I ordered more threads and fabric with Nina and they arrived today. Yippie!!! She really makes something nice of it, it looks like (even if you order it for yourself) you received a gift. I so love it. :-) Again some new amazing colors to add to my stash, it's not getting easy to choose anymore. I really need to start stitching with them. Thanks a lot, Nina.

Looks like summer is gone...

Het lijkt alsof de zomer ten einde is, maar gelukkig komt m'n favo seizoen dan. En dat merk je ook aan de Earth Goddess. Ik heb BOTG even in de kast gelegd om verder te werken aan haar. Haar rok is af, er steekt een voetje uit en nu ga ik de bodem voor de paddestoelen leggen. Hopelijk komen die ook snel uit ;-)

It looks like Summer has ended, but luckely for me the Autumn is my favourite season. And you can notice that in the Earth Goddess. I placed BOTG in my stitching cabinet for a while to make a few stitches onto her. her skirt is finished, a foot is playing peekaboo and now I'm stitching the fertile soil for the mushrooms. I hope they come out soon aswell ;-)

Op gezondheidsvlak, deze week klokte ik op de Weight Watchers cursus af op 95, wat betekent dat ik 12,7 kg al kwijt ben met WW, en in totaal 17,7 kg. Het is al iets, maar ik merk er niet zoveel van, ik draag nog steeds dezelfde kleren en zo.

On health news, this week my weigh in on Weight Watchers was 95 kg, which means I lost 12,7 kg with WW and on grand total 17,7kg. It's something allready, but I don't notice a lot, I'm still wearing the same clothes as before.

Pagina 4 is eindelijk af en nu komt de volgende eraan, pagina 5. Weer nog steeds veel achtergrond, maar op het einde van de pagina komt er een stuk vleugel, joepie.

1 september, en het nieuwe schooljaar is gestart. Voor mij niet, maar wel voor m'n moeder die voor de eerste keer naar de Engelse les gaat, laat ons hopen dat ze nu in het Engels ook gaat bloggen ;-)

De foto is weer een stukje van Bottom of the Garden, meer sprietjes, en nog zo'n 1000 steken en deze pagina is ook weer af.

1st of September, and the new schoolyear started. Not for me, but for my mother, who is going to following English classes for the first time in her life, lets hope she will blog in English aswell.

The picture is from Bottom of the Garden, more sprites (or how do you call them in English? My English isn't perfect either), and another 1000 stitches till this page is finished.

Vorig jaar hadden we dit tafereel, dit jaar hebben we een deja vu... Een kat die heel wat groter is, pakje zwaarder en een tas die hetzelfde gebleven is...

Last year we had this little arrangment, this year we have a deja vu... a bigger cat, a bit heavier but the bag kept the same size...

Ondertussen ben ik ook nog wat aan het borduren tussen het werk door, maar foto's daarvan krijg je in september, dit was m'n laatste post voor augustus.

I'm also stitching a bit in between work and so, but pictures of that you get in september, this was my last post for August.

August Tusal

Eindelijk nog eens een TUSAL van mij, ik blijf het vergeten, maar af en toe denk ik er toch eens aan. Vooral veel draadjes van de Earth Goddess (ik blijf mijn vaas gebruiken tot ze vol is, en dat zal nog even duren) en van Bottom of the Garden.

Finally another TUSAL from me, I keep forgetting it, but once in awhile I think about it. A lot of threads from the Earth Goddess (I keep using my container untill it's filled up, but that will take a while guess) and Bottom of the Garden.

Voor de mensen die meegeraden hebben naar wat er op de foto's van Bottom of the Garden te zien was, het was dus het begin van een sprietje van haar vleugels. Niet zo veel, maar beter dan een volledige pagina achtergrond, lol.

For the people that guessed what there was to be seen in the pictures of Bottom of the Garden, it was the start of some little sprites from her wings. Not so much, but it's better then a full page of backgrond, lol.

Eerst en vooral, Nelle had wel het beste plekje van allemaal, maar toen zij effe weg was ben ik er in gaan liggen, dus ik had m'n bed wel terug om in te slapen ;-)

First of all, Nelle had the best place of all to sleep, but when she was gone for a minute, I took over the bed, so I had it back to sleep ;-)

Ondertussen borduur ik nog wat verder aan Bottom of the Garden, een heel erg saaie pagina, maar kijk eens naar de foto... kan je het zien?

Al een heel tijdje ben ik er aan bezig aan dit werkje. Ik wou weer eens anders dan anders doen en had daarmee besloten om het in plaats van over twee draadjes over eentje te gaan doen en een minatuurtje te maken. Op 32 count evenweave dan nog... Jullie snappen vast ook wel dat je na een tijdje gek wordt van die kleine steekjes, ik kon ze wel nog borduren zonder extra licht maar het blijft toch klein. Na het eerste hartje en bloemetje had ik het patroon niet meer nodig, ik kende het al van buiten, ik heb een fotografisch geheugen wat heel handig is bij borduren.

Het patroontje is van Tralala, Bienvenue Carrés Rouges en is geborduurd met Nina's handgeverfde garens, ik denk Rose Tea. Nu moeten er aan beide kanten van het huisje nog bedeltjes, maar de meeste zijn zo groot dat ze er niet tussen passen, mag maar 15 mm hoog zijn en 9 mm breed, de bloemen vond ik niet zo mooi dus heb ik ze ook niet geborduurd.

It's been a while since I started this and I wanted to something else again then wat is described on the pattern and decided to stitch it over 1 thread instead on over 2. On 32 count evenweave... You could guess I was getting crazy after a while from those little stitches. I could still stitch them without extra light but they are still tiny stitches. After the first heart and flower I could the pattern aside, I allready knew how to stitch it then, I have a photographic memory which is very handy when stitching.

The pattern is from Tralala, called Bievenu Carrés Rouges en is stitched with Nina's handdyed threads, I think it's Rose Tea. Now I need to add some silver embelisments on both sides of the house, but most of them are too big, it's only allowed 15 mm high and 9 mm wide. I didn't liked the flowers, so I haven't stitched them and want embelishments instead.

En ik moet waarschijnlijk op zoek naar een nieuwe slaapplaats voor vanavond, want ik denk niet dat ik m'n bed nog terug krijg...

And I need to find a new sleepingplace for tonight, cause I don't think I will get my bed back...

Earth Goddess continued...

Vandaag een rustig dagje gehad bij Marie-Claire samen met mama en een hele dag kunnen borduren, en dat zie je ook aan m'n Earth Goddess. Haar rok is bijna af, nog een paar plooitjes en ik kan aan een ander stukje beginnen.

Today I had a quiet day at Marie-Claire together with my mom and I was able to stitch the whole day. And you can see that on my Earth Goddess. Her skirt is almost finished, a few parts left and I can start another part on the piece.

Ow, en binnenkort mogen jullie een giveaway verwachten voor m'n 2 jaar bloggen en borduren (dat al eventjes voorbij is, maar ja) en m'n 25ste verjaardag.

Nou, dat lukt vrij goed, maar in mijn cursus is er iemand die al helemaal in haar opzet geslaagd is en 46 kilo afgevallen is. Jaarlijks organiseert Weight Watchers een soort van wedstrijd, de Healthy Life Awards en ze is uitgekozen bij de laatste 8 finalisten. Maar nu heeft ze zoveel mogelijk hulp nodig... stemmen dus. Nog eens een update van m'n Haed. Ik heb m'n godin eventjes aan de kant gelegd om verder te kunnen doen aan Bottom of the Garden, ik denk dat ik zo'n 900 steekjes gezet heb.

Another update on my Haed. I let my godess rest for a bit, to stitch a bit more on to Bottom of the Garden, I think I did around 900 stitches.

Gevallen bladeren, daar door doet me dit stuk aan denken... De mooie rode en oranje tinten, ik ben er gewoon gek op. Ik ben weer wat verder gegaan met de Earth Goddess. Na veel sukkelen met haar hoofd en haar ben ik aan een iets makkelijker stukje aangekomen. Haar corset is af, op de pareltjes na, en ik ben begonnen aan een plooi van haar rok.

Fallen leaves, that's what this piece is reminding me about... The lovely red and orange shades, I just love them. I stitched a bit further onto the Earth Goddess. After a lot of misery with her head and hair I started a pieces that is bit easier. Her corset is finished, besides the beads, and I started a part of her skirt.

En eindelijk, morgenavond weer eens een weekendje vrij. Ik ga er van genieten en hopelijk wat borduren.

And finally, tomorrow I have another free weekend, they are pretty rare here. I'm going to enjoy it and hopefully stitch a bit.

Ik hou niet echt van dit werk, eigenlijk moest het al een hele tijd af zijn, maar ik vind het echt niet leuk om aan te borduren. De laatste keer dat ik hier een update van deze plaatste was alweer meer dan een jaar geleden... Maar ik heb er dan toch een beetje aan geborduurd. Tot ik er weer geen zin meer in heb... En toch moet ie ooit af...

I don't like this piece, it had to be finished allready a long time ago, but I don't like to stitch on it. The last update on this piece is from over a year ago. But I have stitched a bit on it, untill I didn't liked it anymore. But still, it has to be finished one day...

Tested by Nelle, of deze keer misschien toch niet zo. Ze wou er gewoon niet van weten, geprobeerd met snoepjes, aaitjes... nee, de beste foto was deze. Gelukkig wou de Thread Heaven nog mooi poseren, tzou wat zijn anders.

Thread Heaven dus, het is een klein blauw doosje met een witte was erin. Op zich lijkt het niets, maar voor Kreinik en andere metaaldraden is het zalig. Ik heb het nog niet geprobeerd met andere draden, maar voorlopig heb ik het daar nog niet voor nodig gehad.

Tested by Nelle, or this time not so much. She just didn't wanted to get near it, I tried with cookies,..., nope, this pictures was the best. Luckely the Thread Heaven wanted to pose, would be something if he didn't wanted too.

Thread Heaven it is then, it's a little blue box with some wax in it. It looks like nothing, but for Kreinik and metallic threads it's a musthave to me. I haven't tried it on other threads yet, but didn't had to use it for those yet.

Ik heb weer al wat verder geborduurd aan m'n Earth Goddess. In haar haar moeten er nu allemaal fijne blaadjes geborduurd worden, in kwartsteekjes. Echt om gek van te worden, maar het zal wel mooi worden.

I've stitched some more on the Earth Goddess. In her hair I need to stitch all those little leafs, in fractional stitches. It's to get nuts from, but I'm sure it will be beautifull.

Kan je zien wat er hier in geborduurd is? Can you see what I stitched here?

En nog maar eens het bewijs dat die dure mandjes voor ons Nelle dus niet nodig zijn. Die staan er dus voor niets.

A bald girl...

Ze ziet er een beetje kaal uit, en vorm heeft ze ook nog niet, maar haar gezicht kan je wel al onderscheiden. Alhoewel ze niet zo eenvoudig is, en ik de helft van de tijd opnieuw zit uit te halen kan ik haar moeilijk neerleggen. Maar toch, dit wordt hopelijk even mooi als de Summer Fairy. Sommigen onder jullie hadden het juist geraden, het is inderdaad de Earth Goddess. En nu snel nog wat verder borduren...

She looks a bit bald, and she isn't in shape yet, but I think you can see her face allready. Although she isn't easy to stitch, I have to keep frogging all the time, it's hard to put her aside. But still, I hope she gets as beautifull as the Summer Fairy. Some of you have guessed right, it's the Earth Goddess. And now I'm quickly going to stitch some more...

Donderdag heb ik het besteld, vrijdag is het verzonden en toen ik derstraks thuiskwam van m'n werk zat het in de bus. Ik ben echt gek van Polstitches, ze leveren zo snel en steeds is alles keurig in orde. Zelfs toen ze ingesloten zaten met een sneeuwstorm en ze wat later zouden kunnen leveren, kwam het nog binnen de week aan.

En hun stoffen, zalig. Je ziet het niet zo goed op de foto, maar ik neem wel eens een betere hoor. Ik ben er meteen aan beginnen borduren en kijk es naar die glinsterende klosjes Kreinik. Voorlopig gaat m'n Haed dus de kast in.

Iemand een idee welke ik gekozen heb?

ow, en op de Weight Watchers cursus weeg ik nu exact 100 kg, dus weer 1,8kg weg.

Last Thursday I ordered it, Friday it got mailed out and today after work it was in my mail. I'm really cr

azy about Polstitches, they deliver quick and everything is always correct. Even when they were locked in by heavy snow, and said that the delivery time could be a bit longer, it still arrived within a week.

And their fabrics, they are wonderfull. You can't really see it on this picture, but I'll take a better one, promised. I started stitching right away and look at those shiny Kreinik. My Haed will be in the cabinet for some time.

Can anyone guess which one I picked?

Ow, and on the Weight Watchers meeting I'm exactly 100 kg, so another 1,8 kg gone.

Eerst en vooral, bedankt allemaal voor de reacties en de steun terwijl ik probeer af te vallen. Deze helpen ook erg om me verder te motiveren. Het patroon ga ik nog niet laten zien, ik ga wachten tot het hier en geloof me, ik zit ook op het puntje van m'n stoel.

Verder ben ik, volgens mij dan, heel goed aan m'n Haed bezig. Ik heb eindelijk de derde pagina af en kan niet wachten tot de vierde ook af is. De vierde pagina is gewoon saai, er gebeurt niks in, behalve de achtergrond dan. Maar die krijg ik ook af hoor ;-). De foto's geven de juiste kleuren jammer genoeg niet weer, maar daarom zijn er twee om toch een beeld te geven.

First of all, I want to thank everyone for your reactions and support during my weight loss. These motivate me more to lose even more. The pattern I got I'm not showing yet, I'm going to wait till it arrived. And believe me, it's long for me aswell.

Also, I think I'm on a roll with my Haed. I finally finished the tirth page and can't wait till I finished the fourth aswell. The fourth is just boring, nothing is happening in it, just background. But I will stitch through it ;-). The pictures aren't giving the real colors it seems, but there are two of them to show you.

A very special announcement...

Zet de champagne maar koud, want gisteren ben ik voor het eerst onder de 100 kg gedoken. Weliswaar op m'n eigen weegschaal, zonder kledij (Weight Watchers is met kledij en schoenen aan), maar het is toch al een hele prestatie. Vriendlief had beloofd als ik er onder zat dat ik een volledig pakket van Joan Eliott kreeg. Ik heb dus gisteren er eentje mogen uitkiezen en hij is gelijk besteld. Normaal ergens tegen eind volgende week mag ik een nieuw werk verwachten.

Place the bubbles somewhere cool, cause yesterday I came under the 100 kg since a long time. Offcourse, it was on my scale, without clothes (Weight Watchers is with clothes and shoes), but I think it's an achievement. My other half had promised me a kit of Joan Elliott if I went under it. So yesterday I was able to choose and order one. Normally by the end of next week I can expect her to be here.

Vandaag ben ik bij mama gaan borduren aan m'n Haed. Zij heeft een tuin en een ruime veranda, en ik heb een klein appartement, dus de keuze is snel gemaakt. Ik heb een stuk aan m'n Haed gewerkt en het ging niet echt vooruit. Ik heb een stukje aan een vleugel kunnen borduren, maar amai, zoveel confetti. Maar het is toch gelukt. Even leek het er op dat ik Bottom of the Garden een tijdje ging moeten aan de kant leggen want een bepaalde kleur die erg dominant is in de achtergrond was op, ik had er net de laatste draad ingestopt, maar toen ik thuis kwam zat het garen dat ik zondagavond besteld had al in de brievenbus. Maar liefst 200 strengen, alleen voor Bottom of the Garden.

Today I went stitching at my mom's. She has a garden and a big glass house to sit in, and I have a little flat, so the choice has been made very quickly. I stitched a bit on my Haed, but not a lot has been done today. I was able to stitch the part of the wing on this page, and hell, that's a lot of confetti. But I've done it after all. It looked like I had to leave the Bottom of the Garden out for a bit, cause a pink color that I need now in the border was used up this afternoon, but when I got home the threads I ordered on Sunday were in the mail. 200 skeins, and they are all for Bottom of the Garden.

En hier weer een nieuwe update van Bottom of the Garden. Nog steeds veel achtergrond en dat blijft nog een tijdje zo. Het enige lichtpuntje op deze pagina is dat er zo'n 350 steekjes vleugel aan zitten te komen, maar daarna blijft het weer een tijdje rustig met alleen achtergrond.

En here there is another update from Bottom of the Garden. Still a lot of background and it will stay like that for a while. The only hope to see on this page is around 350 stitches of wing that will be there soon, but after that it's background and more of that background.

Eventjes geleden kwam ik dit al eens tegen op het internet, maar toch blijft het wat in m'n been bijten. Dit boek is echt wijs, vooral voor een aantal patronen. Jammer genoeg kan ik niet breien en zal ik waarschijnlijk mama eens lief moeten aankijken... Nu maar hopen dat het niet zoals Mollie Makes is...

En dan het haar van het meisje, ok, ik dwaal af... maar dat is het kleur dat ik echt echt wil!!!!!

A while ago I saw this on the net, but I still keep checking back. This book I really love, especially for some of the patterns. Too bad I can't knit, so I'll have to look nicely in my moms eyes... Now just hope it isn't like the Mollie Makes...

Very dissapointing...

Gisteren ben ik op zoek gegaan naar Mollie Makes, een nieuw UK-magazine dat sinds ik er over gelezen had op het internet gewoon wou hebben. Ik vond het tweede exemplaar in een magazinewinkel in Antwerpen, enkel rijden bijna 90 kilometer van thuis. Mama en ik zouden samen eventueel een abonnement nemen, maar na samen het blad bekeken te hebben, neen, dankje. Er zit meer reclame in dan wat anders, een hoop reportages die je naar winkels tonen in de UK en die al echt niet mijn stijl zijn en dan als er wat in zit om te maken, vind ik het echt niet mooi. Vilten vosjes, een ring van vilt, een parasolletje van papier op een tandenprikker... allemaal heel leuk en schattig, voor een tiener. Maar nee, echt niks voor mij.

Gelukkig hadden ze daar een Joan Eliott booklet, die in de UK volledig uitverkocht was. En omdat ik zo'n fan ben van haar werken heeft dit toch wat de trip goed gemaakt. Ik had die daar echt niet verwacht :-)

Yesterday I went looking for Mollie Makes, a new UK-magazine about handcrafts that I wished to have since I saw things about it on the internet. I found the second issue in a store in Antwerpen, driving almost 90 kilometers away from home. Mom and I would take a subriscription if we liked it. Well, that's not going to happen. We saw the magazine and no thank you. There is more advertising in it then something else, a lot of decoration publi's which aren't my style at all. And the making stuff? Well, foxes from felt, a ring from felt and a little parasol from paper for cocktails... very nice and cute, for a teenager. But no, nothing for me.

Luckely I found something that I didn't expected to see, cause in the UK it's sold out. Since I enjoy Joan Elliott's works I had to buy this, so that made my trip still good.

Tusal and some stitching

Ik blijf de Tusal maar vergeten, maar af en toe post ik nog een fotootje. Er is veel roze bijgekomen van m'n huidige werkje, al lijkt het maar niet op te schieten. Nog eventjes en het is klaar, hoop ik :p.

I keep forgetting about the Tusal, but once in awhile I post a picture. A lot of pink has been added from my current piece, but it doesn't seem to go good. A bit more time and it's finished, I hope.

Gisteren voor de derde keer naar de Weight Watchers cursus geweest en het was echt teleurstellend voor me, maar 200 gr afgevallen. Het kan natuurlijk niet elke week 2,7kg zijn, maar ik vond het echt niet fijn. Ik had eerlijk gezegd geen zin meer om te eten of wat dan ook, maar dat is natuurlijk ook geen oplossing. Yesterday I went to Weight Watchers for the 3th time and it was really dissapointing for me, I only lost 200 gr. Offcourse, it can't be 2,7kg every week, but I don't need to tell you I didn't liked it. I really didn't wanted to eat anymore, but that won't help either. So today we'll do our best again.

De foto's die je ziet zijn van mijn diner deze avond, ik heb het zelf gekookt en zelf gefotografeerd, lol. Het is een variant op een WW-recept, maar waar ik dingen aan toegevoegd heb omdat ik voorlopig nog meer punten mag. Ik ga jullie niet vervelen met de punten waarden, maar ik denk dat het wel een heerlijk receptje is dat ook voor de niet-WWers lekker zal zijn.

The pictures you see are my dinner this evening, I cooked and took pictures of it myself, lol. It's a variation on a WW-recipe, but where I added things onto because for the time being I still have a higher daily total. I'm not going to bore you with the points total, but I think it will be a nice recipe, even for people who aren't on WW.

Propoints 15 (verzadigende porties)

Ik geef de waarden voor 1 persoon, voor meerdere personen moet je gewoon verdubbelen.

I give the ingredients for 1 person, for more people you just need to multiply.

Kook spaghetti zoals je gewend ben. Snij 200 gr groene asperges in tweeen. Stoof deze in wat olie met een teentje look en rasp er de schil bij van een kleine, halve citroen. Laat 5 minuutjes stoven. Doe er 25 ml groentebouillon bij (mag van een blokje) en voeg er 125 gr gepelde, rauwe scampi's bij. Doe er 2 eetlepels room (voor mij was het lightroom) bij. Voeg er de spaghetti bij en knijp er de halve citroen in uit. Kruiden naar smaak met peper en zoet. Een eetlepel geraspte parmezaan bij, je kent dat wel van dat poeder. En oproeren. Smakelijk :)

Cook spaghetti like you are used too. Cut 200 gr of aspergus in half. Bake these in a bit of oil, with a bit of garlic and add the rasped zest of half a lemon with it. Let it sudder for 5 minutes. Add 25 ml of vegetable court (I have I have this right, lol) and 125 gr peeled, raw scampi's. Add 2 tablespoon of cream (light version for me) with it. Then add the spaghetti and squeeze half of the lemon out in it. Season it with pepper and salt. Add a tablespoon of parmezan cheese (the dry stuff), give it a stir and serve. Have a nice meal.

Er kwamen heel wat vragen binnen over m'n blogjevan gisteren, dus ga ik hier een beetje meer uitleg geven. Er zijn een aantal dingen die we zouden kunnen doen. Aan de hand van wat iedereen er over denkt kunnen we iets doen.

Quite a lot of questions came in about the blog from yesterday, so I'll explain some more here. There are a few things we could do. Depending on what people choose or like, we could do one or another.

Round Robin

Hier starten een aantal mensen zelf aan een lap. De lap heeft een bepaalde grootte en iedereen kiest een onderwerp voor zichzelf. Bv bloemen of fairies. Je borduurt er een stukje op en stuurt het dan door naar de volgende. Zelf krijg je ook een lap van iemand anders en daar borduur jij dan ook een stukje op. Iedereen heeft een eigen thema gekozen, dus je borduurt naar gelang het thema dat die persoon opgeeft. Je kan zelf een patroontje zoeken om op de lap te borduren. Op het einde komt de lap terug bij de persoon die hem gestart heeft en kiest die zelf hoe de lap afgewerkt wordt.

Here a few people start a piece themselve. The fabric has a certain hight and width and everyone picks a theme for himself. Like flowers or fairies. You stitch a piece on it and send it to the next one in line. You get a piece send back aswell where you have to stitch a piece onto aswell. Everyone has picked their own theme, so you stitch what they wanted to have stitched. You can choose your own pattern to stitch on. At the end of the round you get your started piece back and choose how to finish it yourself.

Nadelen/Contra

Tijdsgebrek, je moet wel redelijk wat tijd investeren. Werk je met 6 mensen, dan zal je ook 6 stukken moeten borduren.

Time, je need to invest quite some time. Is the RR with 6 persons, then you'll have to stitch 6 parts.

Prijs, het is een groot stuk en je moet evenveel dingen verzenden als er mensen zijn. Dus als er 6 mensen zijn, moet je ook 6 keer versturen.

Price, it will be a quite big piece and you have to send things equil as there are people. With 6 people, you need to send something out 6 times.

Het kan zowel goed of slecht zijn, maar als iemand een thema gekozen heeft dat jou echt niet ligt zal je toch een stukje moeten borduren.

The coin flips at both sides, but if someone picked a theme you don't like at all, you'll have to stitch a part anyway.

Als er iemand uitstapt, blijft er een lege plek over of moet er meer geborduurd worden.

If someone leaves an empty spot is left over or more has to be stitched.

Klein groepje, besloten.

Little group, kinda private between the people signed up.

Exchange/Mailart

Hier kan je de groep zo groot maken als je wil. Er zijn ook private exchanges mogelijk, dus tussen 2 personen onderling. De bedoeling is dat iedereen iets borduurt voor 1 iemand in de groep en ook wat terug krijgt. Niet te groot, niet te klein. En zeker niet te duur, het moet voor iedereen betaalbaar blijven. Een mailart is dan nog wat specialer, kijk naar mijn foto, hier maak je zelf een envelop die geborduurd is. Binnenin zitten kleine cadeautjes. Je kan zelf een paar voorkeuren opgeven, er kan gekozen worden voor het een verrassing te laten voor wie het is zodat alleen de maker weet voor wie ze borduurt of dat het gewoon publiek is wie voor wie borduurt. Je adres wordt wel niet op het net gezet, alleen degene die wat voor je maakt krijgt je adres.

Een exchange kan eigenlijk alles zijn, een biscornu, een ornamentje, speldenkussentje... De bedoeling is dat je een afgewerkt iets verzend.

Not too big, not too small, and certainly not expensive. It has to be doable by everyone. A mailart is a little bit more special, look at my picture. You can make it so that you don't know wo you are receiving from or make it public so everyone knows who they are getting from. Je moet al wel wat kunnen afwerken, maar ik ben er ook niet super in hoor. Dat komt wel.

You have to be able to make a nice finish. But I'm not good at it either, but with practice you make it.

Traveling Pattern

Het laatste, maar daarom niet minder leuk is een traveling pattern. Hierbij kiest de oprichter een bepaald patroon, geen al te groot patroon, maar toch wel een mooitje waar variatie kan in gebracht worden. Je kan het maken zoals op het patroontje, maar ook kleuren veranderen, knoopjes toevoegen...

De oprichter koopt het patroontje aan en borduurt het, zonder aan te duiden op het patroon zelf. Dus best een kopietje maken als je aanstreept. Die kopie gaat dan achteraf in de vuilbak. Afwerken doe je naar eigen inzicht of hoe je het zelf wenst. Daarna zet je het op je blog en stuur je het originele patroon (soms met extraatje, maar dat is niet nodig, het gaat om het patroon) door naar de volgende. Jouw afgewerkte borduurtje hou je dus voor jezelf. En je stuurt een mailtje naar de oprichter wie het patroontje nu ontvangt (naam en blognaam is voldoende). Die borduurt dan ook weer in een aanvaardbaar (zo'n 6 weken?) het patroontje en stuurt het op haar beurt weer naar de volgende en toont haar werk op haar blog...

En zo gaat de ketting verder.

The last one, but not the least is a traveling pattern. Here the starter chooses a nice pattern, not to big but still a lovely one which could be variated with. You can stitch it as it is on the pattern, or change colors, add buttons and so more.

The starter buys the pattern and stitches it. You cannot mark on the pattern, if you are a marker, make a working copie for yourself and destroy the copy afterwards. You finish it how you would prefer. Then you place it on your blog and send the original pattern to the next one in line. You can add a little extra, but that isn't needed, it's about the pattern. You keep your finished piece for yourself. You send a mail to the starter, telling where the pattern is heading to now (no adress, name and blogname is good) She will have to stitch in a timely manner (around 6 weeks?) and send it to the next one and shows her work on her blog...

And so the pattern travels...

In het begin moeilijk te plannen waar het naar toe moet gaan, maar dat doe ik wel.

Waarschijnlijk weet iedereen nog voor en nadelen van elke manier, maar het is ook zo moeilijk. Je hoeft nu nog niet in te schrijven of zo, maar laat gewoon weten welk idee jouw voorkeur heeft.

Deze week heb ik wat geborduurd aan Bienvenue Carres Rouges van Tralala. Het gaat niet echt snel vooruit omdat ik het in miniatuur maak. De kruisjes zijn echt heel erg klein.

This week I stitched a bit on Bienvenue Carres Rouges van Tralala. It's going a bit slow cause I'm making it in miniature, the crosses are very tiny.

En ik heb nog een vraagje, ik zit er over te denken om een Traveling Pattern te starten. Dat wil dus zeggen dat er een patroon rond gestuurd wordt met de post en dat je dat binnen een bepaalde termijn (misschien 5 a 6 weken?) borduurt en dan het patroon doorstuurt naar de volgende in rij. Je maakt het met de kleuren die je zelf wenst en werkt het ook af hoe je zelf wenst. Daarna plaats je het resultaat op je blog. Het zou geen al te groot patroon zijn, het moet haalbaar blijven.

Wie zou er eventueel willen meedoen?

And I have another question, I'm thinking about starting a Traveling Pattern. That would mean a pattern would be sent out by post and that you stitch in a fair amount of time (maybe 5 or 6 weeks?) and send it to the next person in row. You stitch it in the colors you wish and finish it how you desire. Then you place the result on your blog. It won't be a very big pattern, cause it still has be capable to stitch it.

The little bit of stitching I did.

Het weinige borduren dat ik gedaan heb.

Ik heb een hele tijd heel wat minder zin gehad om te bloggen en zelfs om te borduren. Ik zag het gewoon niet meer zitten. Eind januari kreeg ik mijn ontslag, 3 maanden opzeg te doen, februari is m'n oma gestorven, maart was gewoon een rotmaand en april, tjah, aprilse grillen zeker. M'n baas heeft ook grillen, want na me eerst buiten te zetten zijn ze me nu komen vertellen dat ze m'n ontslag intrekken. Blijven dus. Een beetje met gemengde gevoelens. Wat moet ik er op zeggen?

In ieder geval, dit is geen blog om echt te gaan klagen, daar heb ik helemaal geen zin. Dus toon ik wat ik wel gedaan heb. We hebben onze woonkamer geschilderd, de ene kant bleek creme kleur, de andere kant een mooi chocolade bruin. En m'n faerie hangt eindelijk omhoog.

Er is niet zoveel geborduurd, maar een klein beetje aan de Bottom of the Garden. Maar beetje bij beetje komen we er wel. Ik hoop dat het vanaf nu eindelijk eens wat beter mag gaan en ik hoop dat ik ook weer de zin krijg om te gaan borduren.

It's been a while since I have last blogged or stitched, but I didn't felt like it. At the end of januari I got sacked, 3 months of my endterm started, in february my grandmother died, march was like hell and april, well that wasn't too good either. My boss doesn't know what he wants either, cause now they want me to stay. So I'll stay. It's a bit with mixed feelings. But what do I have to rant about?

Anyway, this blog isn't made to rant over and over. So I'll blog about what I've done in the meanwhile. We painted our living more. One side of the wall is in nice cream color, the other side chocolate brown. And the faerie is hanging on the wall.

There hasn't been a lot of stitching, only a little part on the Bottom of the Garden. But stitch by stitch we'll get there. I hope from now on things will get better and that I might get my stitching joy back.

Mijn eerste frivolite werkje. De uitleg en het patroontje is gemaakt door haar. Zij maakt echt prachtige juwelen en andere dingen van draad. Mocht ik wat meer budget hebben dan had ik al zeker wat moois gekocht.

Het ziet er bijlange niet perfect uit, en er ligt al serieus wat draad in de vuilbak. Ik heb een aantal keer moeten herbeginnen, maar ben wel blij met het resultaat.

My first needle tatting. The pattern and is made by her. She makes really beautifull jewels from thread. If I had more budget I would have bought some things allready.

It's far from perfect and I had to retry a lot, but I'm happy with the result.

Eerst en vooral wil ik iedereen bedanken voor de steun bij het overlijden van mijn grootmoeder. Het betekent heel wat voor m'n moeder en mij.

First of all I would like to thank everyone with the support when my grandmother died. It means a lot to my mom and me.

En dit is iets nieuws, een serieuze hoop frutseltjes... je kan zien dat het niet echt lukt.

Afscheid nemen is altijd zwaar, maar ooit moet het toch. Met dit bericht wil ik jullie laten weten dat mijn moeder en ik afscheid hebben moet nemen van onze moeder/grootmoeder. Ze is maandag 21 februari overleden op 88-jarige leeftijd.

Saying goodbye is never easy, but you can't get around it. With this message I would like to let you know that my mother and I had to say goodbye to our mother/grandmother. She passed away on monday the 21st of februari at the age of 88.

Pagina 1 en 2 samen.

Bijna alles onder het blauwe was al geborduurd toen ik ineens merkte dat de verkeerde kleur er op stond en dan nog eens een paar steken te ver. Dus alles moest er opnieuw uit. Vandaag heb ik eindelijk het laatste steekje van de tweede pagina gezet. En ik moet zeggen, het confetti-steekjes gedoe begon wel lichtjes op m'n zenuwen te werken. Elke keer een draad aanhechten voor maar 1 kleurtje in dat hele stuk van ongeveer 500 steekjes waar de hals van het draakje begint.

Almost everything under the blue part was allready stitched when I noticed I misplaced the whole part and in the wrong color. So everything had to be unpicked again. Today I finally placed the last stitch of the second page. And I have to admit, the confetti-stitching was working on my nerves. Every time taking a new thread for only one stitch in a whole area of around 500 stitches where the neck of the dragon starts.

Ik heb al een hoop van Bottom of the Garden terug moeten uithalen, door een foute kleur, maar ondertussen heb ik wel deze opstaan. De stof is eigenlijk blauw, maar het licht speelt weer eens met m'n voeten.

I had to unpick a lot of Bottom of the Garden, caused by a wrong color, but in the mean time I'm stitching this one aswell. The fabric is blue, but the light isn't really helping me.

Als je zoals ik je schaartjes 100 keer mislegt is dit echt iets handig, of gewoon als je op reis gaat of in de trein wat wilt borduren. Het is een snijsieraadje van Clover, maar ook DMC heeft zulke handigheidjes. (Clover was gewoon in mijn geval goedkoper, dus had ik die gekozen.) In het sieraadje zitten een aantal inkepingen waar je een draad doorstopt en hem gewoon mee kan doorsnijden. Je kan niet aan de mesjes aan met vingers, dus in de buurt van kinderen is het ook geen probleem om mee borduren.

Hang het aan een mooi koordje of kettingkje en je kan hem zoals ik constant dragen.

If you misplace your scissors a lot like me, then this is something handy, or when you want to stitch while traveling or in the train. It's a cuttingtool for your threads from Clover, but DMC has them aswell. (Here Clover was cheaper then DMC, so I've choosen Clover) In the jewel are a few holes where you put your thread in, give a little pull to them and your thread is cutted, ready to use. You can't touch the blades with your fingers, so safe while stitching with children around.

Hang it on a nice necklace or leather cord and you have a nice jewel aswell.

Andere modellen, ook van andere merken. De ring vind ik wel niet zo veilig, je kan nog steeds aan het mesje en je kan terwijl je borduurt volgens mij ook de stof meesnijden.

Other kinds, also from other brands. The ring I don't find so safe, I haven't tried it yet, but seeing the picture you can still touch the blade and when you are stitching, it might occur that you cut the fabric aswell.

Nee, Nelle test deze dingen niet echt, maar ik wel. Vanaf nu wil ik jullie regelmatig laten kennismaken met enkele dingetjes die het borduurleven veel makkelijker maken. En ja, de meeste dingen die ik ga laten zien gebruik ik ook zelf. Anders kan ik toch niet zeggen of ik het goed vind of niet? Ik hoop dat jullie dit nieuwe rubriekje leuk vinden en dat ik nog zulke dingetjes mag posten.

No, Nelle isn't testing these things, but I am. From now on I want to show you some handy things that make stitching a bit easier. En yes, most of the things I'm showing I'm using myself. Otherwise I can't tell if I like them or not? I hope you like this new part on my blog, and that I can post more of these.

Het eerste wat ik jullie wil laten zien is vooral handig bij grote werken, met veel verschillende kleuren. Voor m'n HAED, Bottom of the Garden, gebruik ik er op dit moment twee. En er komen nog een hoop kleuren op.

Dit handigheidje is een Thread Organizer van Pako. Je kan er 50 verschillende kleuren garen opsteken. En geleidelijk aan, als ik een nieuwe kleur heb, voeg ik het symbool en een paar draden aan toe. Ik vind het heel makkelijk omdat ik niet steeds die lijst er bij moet nemen bij confettisteekjes en zo, maar gewoon een draad er af hoef te nemen. De kaartjes schuif je er in en uit en kan je langs beide kanten beschrijven. Vroeger schreef ik gewoon op m'n kaartjes het tekentje, maar na een paar werkjes staan er bij wijze van spreken 20 symbolen op je kaartjes, een plakkertje dat valt er gewoon af en dan kan je weer gaan zoeken.

Duur vind ik ze niet, ik heb ze gekocht voor ongeveer 13 euro op een beurs en de tweede via een online shop. Ze zijn volledig uit plastic, en de blauwe moes houdt je draden netjes vast.

The first thing I want to show you all is very handy for big works, with lots of different colors. For my current HAED, Bottom of the Garden, I use two of these tools. And more colors will be added when I progress.

This helping hand is a Thread Organizer by Pako. You can place up to 50 different threads on it. And every time I have a new color, I put a mark on the card and add a few threads on it. I find it very handy that I don't need to look every stitch what number or color I need, but just need to take a thread off. The cards can be written at on both sides. I used to write my symbols on bobbins, but after a piece of work is finished, you have tons of symbols on those cards, and a sticker just fell off.

I don't find them really expensive. The first one I bought for 13 euro's on a fair, and the second one in an online shop. They are from full hard plastic and the blue foam keeps your threads secure.

Vorig jaar heb ik de Summer Fairy van Joan Eliott uit de Cross Stitch Collection geborduurd, dit jaar wil ik er zeker nog eentje borduren. Ook de godinnen vind ik prachtig, maar om het mezelf makkelijk te maken (en omdat hier Kreinik, Mill Hill beads en zo niet echt verkrijgbaar zijn) wacht ik tot Polstitches de rechten heeft om het volledige pakket te verkopen. Dus voorlopig enkel en alleen de fairies. Polstitches maakt prachtige handgeverfde stoffen, die ook in het magazine staan, en na 6 of 7 maanden mogen zij een volledig pakket met patroon, stof, DMC, Kreinik en Mill Hill beads verkopen. Het mag misschien een luie manier zijn, of misschien erg omdat ik wacht tot ze alles uitgebracht hebben, maar ik vind het beter zo. Ik bestel toch sowieso de stof bij Polstitches. Minder verzendingskosten ook.

Trouwens, ik heb vandaag ook mijn abonnement op de Cross Stitch Collection vernieuwd, dit keer voor 2 jaar.

Last year I stitch Joan Eliott's Summer fairy from the Cross Stitch Collection, this year I want to stitch another one. The goddesses are lovely aswell, but to make it easy for myself (en because Kreinik and Mill Hill beads aren't really sold here) I wait till Polstitches has the rights to kit them up. So for now, just the fairies will do. Polstitches makes very nice handdyed fabrics, which are used in the magazine aswell, and after 6 or 7 months they have the rights to sell a full kit with pattern, fabric, DMC, Kreinik and Mill Hill beads. It might be a lazy way, or bad that I have to wait till they are allowed to, but I like it better this way. I order the fabrics with them anyway. And the postage costs are less aswell.

By the way, I renewed my subscription for the Cross Stitch Collection aswell, this time for 2 years.

Wat is nu het probleem? Ik kan niet kiezen welke de volgende wordt, dus welke zou jij kiezen?

Dit jaar heeft Daffycat de Tusal overgenomen. Ik vergat vorig jaar steeds te posten omdat de oude blog die de herinnering eigenlijk postte er mee gestopt is. Maar ik hoop dat ik het dit jaar niet vergeet.

In ieder geval, hier is de eerste van dit jaar. Er zitten nog draden in van vorig jaar, maar ik blijf er gewoon bijgooien. De meeste draden die er in zitten zijn die van de Summer Fairy. Dit jaar zullen er vooral veel volgen van The Bottom of the Garden.

This year Daffycat took over the Tusal. I forgot to post last year, cause the old blog didn't posted the reminders anymore and it seems the girl quitted blogging totally. I hope not to forget it this year.

By no further waiting, here is the first one of this year. It still has threads from last year, but I keep throwing them in. The most threads in it are the ones from the Summer Fairy. This year a lot will follow from the Bottom of the Garden.

The first update of 2011...

De eerste update van dit jaar gaat naar the Bottom of the Garden. Ongeveer 1/3 van de tweede pagina is klaar. Het gaat traag, maar ja, ieder steekje is er eentje. Dit is de eerste keer sinds september dat er een foto van deze geplaatst is.

The first update of this year goes to the Bottom of the Garden. Almost 1/3 of the second page is finished. It goes very slow, but ok, every stitch is one. This is the first progress picture since I finished the first page in september.

Aan de ene kant wil ik graag een paar doelen zetten voor 2011, maar aan de andere kant, ik heb gemerkt dat ik dit jaar niet zoveel tijd heb gehad om te borduren, dus denk ik dat het beter is om geen doelen te zetten. Ik vermoed dat ik me er gewoon ga in frusteren als het niet lukt.

On one side I want to place some goals up for 2011, but on the other side, I noticed the past year that I don't have a lot of time to stitch, so I better set no goals. I think I might be frustated if it doesn't go as I planned.

Wie ook de blog van m'n moeder volgt zal dit patroon waarschijnlijk al kennen, het is een patroon van Tralala, Bienvenue Carrés Rouges. Terwijl mama de gewone versie maakt, maak ik een miniatuur versie er van op 28 count fabric, 1 draadje over 1 draadje.

Het garen is ook niet het originele garen maar Rose Tea van Nina. Het gaat vrij traag met allemaal die kleine steekjes, maar ik hoop dat het mooi wordt als het af is. Ik ga er denk ik ook een paar aanpassingen aan doen en daarvoor moet ik nog naar charms zoeken, weet er iemand waar er mooie (metaalkleurige) charms te koop zijn?

The people that also follow my moms blog know this pattern I think, it's a pattern from Tralala, Bienvenue Carrés Rouges. While my mom makes the normal version, I'm stitching a miniature version of it on 28 count fabric, 1 over 1.

The threads aren't the original ones either, but Rose Tea dyed by Nina. It goes pretty slow with all those tiny stitches, but I hope it will be nice when finished. I think I'm going to make a few adjustments to it, and therefor I need to find some nice charms. Is there anyone who knows where to find some nice (metalcolored) charms?

Het is een superdrukke periode hier, vooral op het werk. Veel zieken en afwezigen, sowieso al veel te weinig personeel en dus draaien we maar extra uren. Vaak zonder vergoeding of zo, maar ja, we moeten wel, de zorgsector kan niet zonder. 's Avonds kom ik doodmoe thuis en heb nog amper zin en tijd om te borduren, laat staan om te bloggen. Eten maken, douchen, wat poetsen en dan vaak gewoon m'n bed in. Mensen op msn zullen dit wel gemerkt hebben dat ik er amper ben.

Dus heb ik jammer genoeg ook er niet aan gedacht om een foto te maken van de giveaway die ik van Melissa gekregen heb. Sorry sorry sorry. Het was dus haar Halloween giveaway en die kwam rond 22 november aan. Ik heb er nog niet aan geborduurd, maar heb dus in een maand bijna niks gedaan. Pas vandaag heb ik eindelijk weer een stukje geborduurd. Meis, ik maak het goed, er komt een pakje naar jou aan ook hoor.

It's been a super busy period here, mostly at work. Lots of people ill and absent, way to less staff to work with and so we work extra hours. Mostly not being paid for it, but we have to, healthcare won't stop. At the evenings I get home, dead tired and hardly having time or even feeling to stitch or blog. Making food, showering, some housecleaning and off to bed. People on msn would have noticed this allready I guess.

So unfortunatly I haven't made a picture of Melissa's giveaway yet. I'm so sorry, really sorry, Melissa. It was her Halloween giveaway and it arrived here at the 22th of November. I haven't stitched it yet, but I haven't stitched at all in a month. I just started stitching again today. Girl, I'm going to make it up to you, there is something arriving to you aswell.

De lijst die ik gekozen heb is een zilveren lijst, met kleine krasjes er op en het binnenste stuk heeft een blauwtint. Het goede hier aan is dat als ik de andere van de fairy reeks maak, het binnenste stukje veranderd kan worden. Voor de herfst-fairy kan ik dus oranje of groen kiezen, voor de winter-fairy wit,...

The frame I picked is a silver one, with little scars on it, and the inner piece of the frame has a shine of blue. The nice thing about this frame is that there are several combinations, so if I make the autumn-fairy I can choose for orange or green, the winter one could become white and so on...

Ik hoop weer wat meer tijd te kunnen maken voor te borduren en te bloggen en jullie allemaal terug mag zien.

Gisterenavond heb ik eindelijk de laatste kraaltjes er op gezet en deze middag is m'n Summer Faerie naar de inlijster gegaan. Ik heb er geen foto meer van genomen, enkel en alleen een close-up.

Yesterday evening I finally placed the last bead on the Summer Fairy and this afternoon she went to framer. I didn't made a full picture of it, just a closeup.

En ik ben ook al bezig aan een nieuwe, eentje van Beatrix Potter met een Mrs Tiggy Winkle die de was ophangt.

Daniëlle, je vroeg me welke naalden ik gebruikte voor de beads op m'n summer fairy, maar je maakte een anonieme post en ik kon niet meteen een blog terug vinden. Ik gebruik John James beading naalden, ze zaten in een Pebble die als cadeau zat bij de Cross Stitcher. Ze zijn ook apart te koop in veel handwerkwinkels.

Maar ik zoek nog steeds een alternatief voor die lange naalden, misschien helpt een fijnere borduurnaald ook.

Daniëlle, you asked me about the needles I was using to bead my summer fairy, but you posted anonymous so I couldn't trace back a blog. I'm using John James beading needles, they came from a gift from Cross Stitcher, in a Pebble but are also sold everywhere in seperate packages.

But I'm still looking for an alternative, maybe a finer embroidery needle helps too.

Emily, jouw profiel op blogger staat als aangegeven als verborgen, dus kan ik je ook geen persoonlijk antwoord geven. Ik borduur m'n Haed op 18 count aida met 2 draadjes. Er gaat wat meer draad in dan de originele stof, en hij wordt iets groter, maar dat vind ik niet echt een probleem.

Emily, your profile on Blogger is stated as hidden, so I can't give you a personal answer. I stitch my Haed on 18 count aida with 2 threads. It use more thread than the original fabric, and it's a little bigger, but that isn't really a problem for me.

I'm sorry for my English readers, but this post is just in Dutch. The rest of the posts will be in English aswell, offcourse. And don't forget to check the blog later today or tomorrow, cause I hope I will have the first page off Bottom of the Garden finished.

Zowel van Elisa als van Desiree kreeg ik deze award begin deze week. Alleen had ik nog geen tijd om hem zelf te plaatsen. Dus dan doe ik dat nu even.

Er hangen 3 opdrachten aan vast, waarvan de eerste is dat je hem moet doorgeven aan 5 blogs. Hier heb ik het een beetje moeilijk mee. Zoals de meeste wel weten bestaat m'n blogroll uit meer dan 100 blogs, om daar nu gewoon 5 uit te pikken, dat is voor mij onbegonnen werk. Toen ik de lijst doorging, werd ik gewoon gek en kon ik niet eens er 20 afhalen die het niet mochten zijn.

De ene inspireert me met borduurwerken, de andere vertelt prachtig, nog iemand anders heeft de prachtigste viltcreaties die ik ooit gezien heb... dus, jullie krijgen hem allemaal van mij.

Dan, drie dingen waar ik van hou.

Ten eerste, natuurlijk, borduren. Ik vind het rustgevend, alhoewel ik niet zoveel kan borduren en vind het leuk om met wat garen en een leeg stofje zo iets te toveren en stilletjes aan een prachtig kunstwerk te maken.

Ten tweede, familie en de kat. Ja, familie is wel duidelijk. Niet dat ik met iedereen van de familie overeenkom, maar ja, ik koester toch m'n mams en m'n stiefvader. En sommige anderen. En de kat, tjah, die is als een dochter voor mij. Een poezendochter wel te verstaan. Hoe ze 's avonds voorbij komt gedarteld en haar op m'n schoot nestelt.

Het derde waar ik van hou, ja, dat is al wat moeilijker. Er zijn zoveel dingen, maar om er nu nog eentje van uit te pikken. Ik denk dat ik voor genieten ga. Iets wat ik veel te weinig doe. Alles moet snel snel gaan, snel dit nog, snel dat nog. En ik hoop dat ik me er ook meer op kan toepassen om meer te gaan genieten.

En last but not least, de foto.

Sinds 3 weken volg ik fotografielessen, en na m'n eerste les zijn we een weekendje weggeweest naar de Ardennen. Deze foto is genomen in Durbuy en vond ik wel mooi met die platen die helemaal gescheurd zijn. Vooral in contrast met dat groene van dat onkruid er voor.

Ziezo, en nu ga ik wat borduren, want zou heel graag deze avond pagina 1 af willen hebben.

Bottom of the Garden 4

Update 4 van Bottom of the Garden, nu kan je al wat meer blauw zien. Het blauwe is de derde rand, na de marmeren roze buitenrand en de zwarte smalle rand. Behalve terug een marmer effect zie je niet zo heel veel.

Ik wou dat ik wat meer kon borduren of gewoon sneller.

Update 4 from Bottom of the Garden, you can see a bit more blue now. The blue part is the thirth band, after the pink outer band and the black one. Except a marble effect, there is not much to see yet.

I wish I could stitch more, or quicker.

Vandaag, veel vroeger dan normaal, viel de Cross Stitch Collection in de bus. Ik was op slag verliefd...

Today, a lot earlier then normal, the Cross Stitch Collection was in the mailbox. I was in love at first sight...

Lanzamerhand maken de stiksteken m'n Summer Fairie tot leven. Het is niet m'n favoriete werkjes, en alhoewel het mij niet echt opvalt, zeggen anderen wel dat het goed opvalt.

And slowly the backstitches make my summer fairy alive. It's not my favourite thing, and I don't really see it, but others do.

In vergelijking met anderen ga ik echt traag, maar hier is toch al een update van Bottom of the Garden. Ja Pauline en Esther, waar halen jullie die pepernaalden vandaan? Het licht is slecht en ik krijg niet echt goede foto's maar binnen een week en een half start ik met m'n eerste les fotografie. Hopelijk lukt het dan beter.

Compared to others I really go slow, but here is another update of Bottom of the Garden. Yes Pauline and Esther, where do you buy those pepperneedles? The light is bad and I don't get really good pictures, but in a week and a half my course photographics starts and hopefully they will get better.

Heel slecht belicht, maar zo zie je verschillende kleuren in het donkere stuk.

Very bad lighting, but now you see the different colors in the dark part.

Stash Challenge

Sjoukje toonde op haar blog haar stash, dus nu doe ik hetzelfde. Mijn tijdschriften en boeken en reservegaren ligt wel niet mee op de foto, zou anders te veel worden. En aangezien we geen grote tafel hebben, heb ik alles maar op m'n bed gelegd.

Sjoukje showed her stash on her blog and made a challenge of it, so here is mine. My magazines and books and extra thread aren't shown on the pictures, it would be too much. And we don't have a big table, so I placed it all on the bed.

Rechts zie je de werken waar ik aan bezig ben, de Summer Fairy en the Bottom of the Garden. De groene tas is m'n travel tas, daar zit alles in als ik weg ga en wil borduren. In het midden vind je patronen en een paar pakketten, maar ik weet nog niet wat ik wil gaan maken als de Summer Fairy af is.

Naast het stekenboek staat een doos met handgeverfd garen, het meeste is van Nina. De zwarte mand daarnaast is m'n stoffenmandje, waar m'n borduurstoffen zich in verstoppen en links heb je dan m'n dozen met borduurgaren.

At your right you can see the pieces I'm working on, the Summer Fairy and the Bottom of the Garden. The green bag is my travel bag, I put everything in there when I go out and want to stitch. In the middle are patterns and kits, but I don't know yet what to stitch when the Summer Fairy is finished.

Next to the book with stitches is a box with handdyed thread, most of it is Nina's. The black basket hides my fabrics. And at the left my boxes with threads are shown.

Making depth... and question about beads

Eindelijk ben ik bezig aan die stomme stiksteken. Ze brengen misschien wel diepte, maar ze zijn echt niet leuk, en op dit moment zie ik er nog niks van. Ik probeer ook de pareltjes aan te brengen, maar het lukt niet echt. Ik ben echte beading naalden gaan halen, maar ik krijg er geen draad door, zelfs niet zo'n speciaal machientje of zo'n oogje. Als ie er dan eindelijk door gaat is de draad al kapot, en bovendien is ze zodanig flexibel dat ik er niet eens een pareltje mee in het werk krijg. En hoe naai ik die kleine dingen nu eigenlijk vast? Iemand tips?

Finally I'm doing the stupid backstitches. They might bring depth to the work, but they aren't really fun and I don't see anything of them yet. I also try to put on the beads, but that isn't working to well either. I bought real beading needles, but can't get a thread through the eye. I have a special little tool and a thread "spoon", but I don't get it through the mini-eye. When it got finally through, the thread is damaged so it isn't usable anymore. And also, she is so flexible, I can't really sew on a bead. And how do I actually sew those little things onto my piece? Anyone has an idea?

Weer wat geborduurd aan de Summer Fairy. De golven zijn klaar en zometeen begin ik aan de schelpen en dan borduur ik het strand. En dan komt m'n favo werk -sarcastisch- de stiksteken.

Stitched a bit more on the Summer Fairy. The waves are ready and in a few moments I start the shells and after that it's the beach. After that my favourite work -sarcastic- comes up, the backstitches.

En vorige week dinsdag zijn bij mama blogvriendinnen langs geweest. We hebben beiden wat moois gekregen, maar ik heb er nog geen foto's van, die volgen volgende week. Ik heb het bij mama laten staan omdat hier een "alles is speelgoed"-juffrouw rondloopt. Je raadt waarschijnlijk al wie, ons Nelle.

And last tuesday some blogfriends visited at my moms. Me and my mom both got a lovely gift, but I don't pictures yet, those are for next week. I kept it safe, because here is a "everything is toys"-miss around. You guessed it, I think, our Nelle.

Update 2 van Bottom of the Garden. Ik ben ben bijna halverwege de eerste pagina. Ik heb besloten om eerst de buitenste rand op deze pagina te doen, dan de tweede zwarte rand en dan het middenstuk. Er zitten in dit stuk heel veel roze tinten, er zitten hier alleen al 11 kleuren in.

Update 2 from Bottom of the Garden. I'm almost halfway the first page. I have decided to stitch the outer border first on this page, then the second black part and then the middle piece. There are alot of different pinks in this part, there are no less then 11 colors in this piece.

Zonder Nina's draden zou dit belange zo mooi niet zijn... Het lag hier al een tijdje, half geborduurd, en nu heb ik het eindelijk afgewerkt. Het is de eerste keer dat ik met speciale steken geborduurd heb en op zo'n kleine count.

Without Nina's threads, it wouldn't be half as beautifull. It was lying around for a while now, half stitched and today I decided to finish it. It's the first time I stitched special stitches and on such a small count.

Terwijl ik werk aan Bottom of the Garden moet er natuurlijk ook nog aan de Summer Fairy van Joann Elliott gewerkt worden. Aan de laatste foto te zien is er heel wat bijgekomen, haar jurk is eindelijk af. Nu nog een hoop golven en een stuk strand en dan beginnen de stiksteekjes en parels. Maar ik zal nog heel wat werk hebben aan de gewone kruisjes.

While I'm progressing on Bottom of the Garden I still need to stitch on the Summer Fairy from Joann Elliott aswell. Seeing the last picture, a lot has been added since then, her dress is finally complete. Now a lot of waves, some beach and then the backstitches and pearls. But before those last two, I still have a lot of work on the crosses.

Dit heb ik een tijdje geleden gemaakt als een geschenkje voor Nina, maar nog steeds niet op m'n blog gezet. Het is een patroon van Brin par Brin, origineel bedoeld als een hangertje om je hals te hangen, maar ik vond dit leuker.

Kreinik and Haed?

In Bottom of the Garden zit er Kreinik 032, een soort van witachtige metalic draad. Met de braid ziet het er dik uit, met de filament te dun. Ik probeer het nu met witte draad, 2 draadjes wit en 1 draadje Kreinik. Op internet heb ik al gezocht en gemerkt dat er voor sommige Haeds zo'n 20-25 spoelen nodig zijn. Voor de mijne zouden het er 32 zijn, als ik HAED's uitleg zou moeten volgen. (4 draadjes filament, of 2 braid). Wat doen jullie als er Kreinik in jullie werken komt? Ik heb ook naar Michelle gemaild met m'n vraag, maar haar antwoord is dat van de 4 draadjes en 2 braids.

In ieder geval, DMC metallics zijn een ramp, die zijn zo stijf dat je er niks mee kan. Ik toch niet. En is er zoveel verschil tussen gewoon wit met kreinik mengen of B5200 mengen met Kreinik?

In Bottom of the Garden is some Kreinik 032 involved, some white metalic thread. With the braid it looks too thick, with the filament to tin. I'm trying now with some white thread, 2 threads of white and 1 thread of Kreinik filament. On the internet I've searched for Haeds and Kreinik and I found out that for some Haeds you need aprox 20-25 packages of Kreinik. For mine it's 32 if I follow Haeds explanation. (4 threads of the filament or 2 from the braids). What do you people do when you have Kreinik in your work? I also mailed to Michelle with my question, but her answer is the one I just explained.

Dmc metallics is out of order, they are too stiff and when you are at the end of your thread, there is no metallic on it anymore. And is there so much difference between blending into ordinary white or DMC B5200?

Goodbye Queen of Hearts... Welcome to...

Vorig jaar had ik besloten om de Queen of Hearts te maken van Haed, en was op zoek naar de juiste stof. Normaal is een Haed op 25 count evenweave, maar omdat ik nog een beginner was hebben ze me een andere soort en count stof gegeven. Ik weet tot nu toe nog altijd niet goed wat voor stof het is. Ik probeerde met 2 draadjes, maar moest toen er nog twee keer doorgegaan moest worden, al heel hard trekken. Het gevolg was een hoop dikke, ongelijke steken. Dan probeerde ik het maar met 1 draadje, en daar zag je overal wit tussen. Het gaf gewoon geen mooi zicht. Toch borduurde ik verder en had bijna 6 pagina's afgewerkt.

Maar dit weekend was ik het beu. Ik besloot om nieuwe stof te kopen en te herbeginnen. Maar toen ik kreeg ik een ander idee. De Queen vond ik wel heel mooi, maar zo rood. Op 6 pagina's waren er maar 7 verschillende kleuren te voorschijn gekomen. Een paar maanden geleden had ik de Fall Fairy gekocht, maar ondertussen zijn er al een aantal mensen die aan de Fall Fairy begonnen waren (Elisa, Amarins, Ingrid en nog een paar op de Haed blog) dat ik het niet zag zitten om ook aan dezelfde te beginnen. Straks lijken al onze blogs op elkaar. Dus ben ik verder gaan zoeken, ik heb zoveel Haeds die ik mooi vind. En dus kwam ik op een andere uit...

Last year I decided to stitch Heaven and Earth Designs "Queen of Hearts". Because I only recently started stitching, I searched for the right fabric. 25 count evenweave seemed to hard so the saleswoman gave me another kind of fabric. I still don't really know what fabric it is, but I hate it. I tried with 2 strands of cotton but when I still had to pull through 2 times, it was a disaster. I had to pull so hard, that I damaged the fabric and had a thick, uneven stitch. Then I tried with only one thread, but the white of the fabric always came through. I didn't liked it, but still stitched almost 6 pages.

But this weekend I was tired off it. I decided to restart her on new fabric. But then I got another idea. I always loved the Queen, but it's so boring to stitch. In the first 6 pages, I only had 7 colors, and it went through for another 5 pages. A few months ago I bought the Fall Fairy, but in the mean time some other people had started it too and posted it on their blogs. (Including Amarins, Elisa, Ingrid and some on the Haed blog) So it seemed pretty weird for me to start it too, in a bit all blogs would be the same, and it wouldn't be a nice challenge to stitch the same. So I searched further, and I have a lot of Haeds I like, so it found another nice one I like...

Eindelijk heb ik nog eens wat geborduurd. Elke dag misschien een steekje of 10, maar vele kleintjes maken toch een beetje.

Finally I have stitched a bit. Every day maybe 10 stitches, but a lot off little ones, make a bit.
